On Wednesday 25th June 2025, a special charity cricket match will be held at the historic Bat & Ball Ground in Gravesend to mark the fifth anniversary of the passing of Elliott Holmes, a much-loved young man from Istead Rise who tragically took his own life, aged just 19.
In Elliott’s memory, his mum Kerry Holmes and stepfather Peter Scutts founded the Elliott Holmes Memorial Fund (EHMF)—a local cause providing free, timely, direct-access to counselling for young people living in Gravesham aged 13–18. All money raised goes directly to fund counselling. To date, the Elliott Holmes
Memorial Fund, with the help of the Gravesham community, has helped nearly 400 young people access support.
This community event is being organised in partnership with Gravesend Cricket Club and Iron Pier Brewery, and will see a friendly Twenty20-style cricket match between teams from Iron Pier and Gravesend Cricket Club. The first ball will be bowled at 5:00pm, with the match concluding around 8:00pm.
- It promises to be a fantastic evening for all ages, with:
- FREE entry
- A fundraising raffle
- Cake stall
- BBQ
- Children’s entertainment
- Iron Pier beers on tap in the Clubhouse
Special guests include the High Sheriff of Kent, the Worshipful Mayor of Gravesham and representatives from the Lord Lieutenant’s office.
Everyone is welcome—whether you’re a cricket fan, a supporter of mental health initiatives, or simply want to stand with Elliott’s family and community on this meaningful day.
Let’s come together to raise awareness, celebrate Elliott’s memory, and support the ongoing work of EHMF.
Sponsorship opportunities available!
This is third party event organised by Iron Pier Brewery, raising awareness and funds for Elliott Holmes Memorial Fund CIC.
