Mayor of Gravesham’s Boundary Walk

Overview

The walk “Beating the Bounds” will be taking place over two days – Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October 2026. You can choose to join for one or both days or a section of any day, find locations on what 3 words (in brackets)

Day one starts at 9am at Ebbsfleet United FC and ends at the Lion Public house and Restaurant at Luddesdown.

Day two starts at the Lion at Luddesdown and ends at the Ship and Lobster Public House on the south bank of the river Thames.

How to take part

If you would like to take part, email [mayorscharity@gravesham.gov.uk] with your name and the names of anyone who will be joining you.

A sponsorship form will be emailed to you following your request, the sponsorship raised would be greatly appreciated for the three charities which are:   

Ellenor,  Elliot Holmes Memorial Fund, and Waterside Parents Centre.

Start and end points

Saturday 10th October

Start: Ebbsfleet United Football Club, Stonebridge Rd Northfleet DA11 9GN

End: The Lion Pub, Luddesdown Road, Luddesdown, DA13 0XE

Sunday 11th October

Start: The Lion Pub, Luddesdown Road, Luddesdown, DA13 0XE

End: The Ship and Lobster Pub, Mark Lane Gravesend DA12 2QB

 

Transport 

On Saturday morning, if you would like to book transport there are two pickup locations available.

  • The Lion Luddesdown – 8:15am
    • The Lion Pub, Luddesdown Road, Luddesdown, DA13 0XE
  • Civic Centre – 8:40am
    • Windmill Street, Gravesend, DA12 1AU

On Sunday morning, transport is only available from Civic Centre.

  • Civic Centre – 09:00am
    • Windmill Street, Gravesend, DA12 1AU

There is no transport available at the end of either day.

Full itinerary

Saturday 10th October

08:15 – Bus leaves Lion, Luddesdown and heads to civic centre. Cars can be left in the Lion car park as this is where todays walk ends

08:40 – Bus leaves Civic Centre going to Ebbsfleet United Football Club

09:00 – Breakfast at Ebbsfleet Football Club.

09:30 The walk begins going via Thames Way

10:00 – Post ceremony on Hall Road bridge over A2. What 3 words.( quiz.brings.complains.)

11:00/11:15 – Downs Road/Walnut Hill (lands.edits.nation)

11:30 – 20 mins comfort stop at “Green Man” Longfield (lake.quick.march)

12:45 – Idleigh Court

13:30 – Clads House (lions.fish.fingernails)

14:00 – 45 mins lunch Break – “The Villager” at Vigo (lows.king.jabs)

15:30 – Poundgate

16:00 – Great Buckland (note.loss.verbs)

16:30 – End of day one and refreshments at the Lion at Luddesdown (edges.wage.judges).

There is no transport back to Gravesend so if you didn’t park in the Lion car park in the morning you will need to organise your own transport home.

Sunday 11th October

09:00 – Bus leaves civic centre and heads to The Lion at Luddesdown

09:30 – Start day two – The Lion at Luddesdown (edges.wage.judges)

11:15 – Three Crutches Old Watling street, (shops.asking.bake) 20 mins comfort break.

12:45 – Higham Congregational Church, School Lane – Light lunch provided by the Church

15:15 – The Ship and Lobster Public House – Refreshments and the End (about 16 miles)

You will need to organise your own transport home
