A huge £5,320 raised at Iron Pier charity cricket match

What a fantastic day! Iron Pier Brewery and Gravesend Cricket Club teamed up for an amazing charity cricket match on 25th June, raising a whopping £5,320 for the Elliott Holmes Memorial Fund which will support at least a 12 young people through counselling. The date marks the 5th anniversary of Elliott Holmes who took his own life at 19 and struggled to access support. Both Elliott’s parents, Peter Scutts and Kerry Holmes came to support the event.

Organiser and brainchild of the match, Phil Painter, said: “Iron Pier were keen to help the Elliott Holmes Memorial Fund and a cricket match seemed like a great way of having a bit of fun and raise funds at the same time”.

Big thanks to the High Sheriff of Kent, Jonathan Neame, who opened the match, Dr. Bhargwara Vasudaven DL and the Worshipful Mayor of Gravesham, Jenny Wallace, for their support. And of course, a shoutout to Boysons for donating the delicious burgers and sausages, and BB Contacts for sponsoring the event and everyone who worked tirelessly on the day to make this a memorable event!

Over 150 people came out to enjoy the match. Since 2022, the Elliott Holmes Memorial Fund has supported over 400 young people, with over 60 currently receiving counselling. Iron Pier Manager, Natalie McCarthy, shared, “We’re proud to support EHMF and the incredible work they’re doing. The impact they’re having in Gravesham is truly inspiring!”

A huge thank you to everyone who made this event happen! Let’s keep this going.
