Kent Police and DPD Duo Conquer Yorkshire Three Peaks

A team of five brave souls from Kent Police, along with the intrepid Steves—Platt and Tonkin—from DPD, tackled the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge last week. That’s 24 miles, three mountains, and a whole lot of sweat in just 12 hours. They did it in a tough 11 hours and 23 minutes!

This isn’t just any stroll in the park; it’s a monstrous, some might say borderline masochistic, walk involving over 1600 meters (or 5000 feet, if you prefer to measure your suffering in feet) of climbing. The Three Peaks—Pen-y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough—offer stunning views across the moors and a peek at the Ribblehead viaduct from Whernside’s summit. This challenge was originally concocted in 1887 by two teachers who apparently had too much free time and a penchant for pain, completing it in 10 hours.

Steve Platt from DPD said, “Absolutely delightful, great company, and I savoured every moment!” Meanwhile, Steve Tonkin (also from DPD) added, “I never want to see another rock for as long as I live.” Mark from Kent Police, chimed in with, “Good laugh and good fun, easy (said with a hefty dose of sarcasm)” And Cameron from Kent Police summed it up perfectly with, “Bring some Sudocrem, it hurts.”

A huge shoutout to everyone who participated, and we eagerly await the next team from Kent Police next week. Let’s see if they can top this—bring it on!
