Community Youth Tutor at Thamesview school raises £600!
We are so grateful to Penny Stotesbury and her sister Nikki, who recently walked the entire length of Hadrian’s Wall, 84 miles, to raise money for the Elliott Holmes Memorial Fund. The money will be used to fund counselling session for young people in Gravesham who are struggling with their mental health and finding it difficult to access counselling through the NHS.
Community Youth Tutor at Thamesview School, Penny said, “I have worked with young people within the Gravesham area for the past 16 years. Myself and Nikki have both personally experienced the trauma of losing a close friend when we were in our teens and a relative and my son’s best mate, Dave, taking his own lives just a year ago. The lasting devastation this causes to the family, friends and loved ones (the survivors) is immense. We were really passionate about doing something to support and prevent young people feeling the need for this action.
The Elliott Holmes Memorial fund is a very worthy cause and is again, a stark reminder of the support that is lacking and needed for young people to enable them to access support, as and when they need it. We both hope that the £600 contribution will aid at least one young person gain support at a time that it is crucial and it is an honour to be able to add a little something to such a valued cause.”
