Gurdwara suicide prevention talk

EHMF were invited to say a few words about our work in the community at the Guradwara temple in Gravesend on Saturday 4th November. Gurj Shokar addessed the Asian community and gave a moving speak about the loss of his brother and the impact it has had on him and his family. He spoke about the signs he missed and what he could have done. We spoke about different world our children grow up in today, the pressures they have and some shocking facts about how the large increase in the number of young people now struggling with their mental health, compared to six years ago.

I explained that Covid left a lasting impression on many young people, isolated for months and most certainly contributed to Elliott taking his own life at just 19 in 2020. There will be another wellbeing event held at the Gurdwara on 3rd December between 11:00 and 14:00. We will be attending. If you would like to talk to us, please pop by and say hello.
